Objective
Provide a solution that allows travelers to "Mute" their mobile device while operating a vehicle or during while transit. "Muting" a mobile device primarily keeps the traveler from answering messages by providing an in-transit update; a unified away message for voice calls, social network direct messages, SMS and email. It does this by auto-responding with user-customized status messages or canned response for every SMS, social network direct messages, email or voice message received while the application is enabled [ideally during travel time].
In addition to its primary goals (and to appeal to the consumer market), Palav.us optionally provides travelers the convenience of "checking in" to their medium of transport (road, rail, air etc.) and this optionally shares travel status and location information with friends, family or co-workers. It also allows travelers to meet various secondary goals such as encouraging safer driving, providing the traveler a geolocated timeline of their travels, providing businesses real-time metrics on travel expenses, geolocation information for sales or support purposes, road conditions and average travel time.
